Honey Stinger at Mellow Classic

This past weekend Lance Armstrong hosted over 700 mountain bike racers on his ranch in the Texas Hill Country outside Austin for the first annual Mellow Classic. Folks showed up from all over Texas and beyond to race, hang out and spectate and sample Honey Stinger. We had a great spot near the start finish and sampled a ton of product.

Our marketing guy Len Zanni was there racing and manning the tent. He ended up 11th in the Pro/ Cat 1 field which he blames on too much oxygen available to his muscles and a strange mechanical that set him back a few spots.

Thanks to everyone involved including the staff of Mellow Johnny’s bike shop who showed us a good time and helped out enormously. A great event that we’ll be back to next year for sure!

Compton’s World Cup Dominance Continues

_U0U0693
11.8.2009 –
Katie Compton had a great race for another win at the latest UCI Cyclocross World Cup in Nommay, France – further solidifying her UCI ranking atop the standings. It rained the day before the race which caused the track to be a little slick in the corners and a little heavier which made Vos work despite sitting in the draft. Vos attacked Katie after Katie slipped on an off-camber section which actually worked to Katie’s advantage as it forced Vos to attack and overextend herself. Katie comfortably covered the attack then went to the front and kept the pace high until Vos cracked.
Katie raced on Dugast Rhino’s which allowed her more traction in the corners so she could push the corners harder compared to Vos, this forced Vos to cover the gap with a sprint to close to Katie’s wheel which eventually cracked her.
The win makes a total of six World Cup wins for Katie and two consecutive wins this season. Katie races Niel tomorrow and Aspere-Gavere on Sunday, a race Katie has won twice consecutively.
