Honey Stinger Staff and Team Members Volunteer Trail Time

Several members of the Honey Stinger staff and Honey Stinger/ Trek mountain bike race team recently volunteered time to work on local trails projects. Nate Bird, Rich Hager and Chris Pottinger all spent time building new singletrack on Emerald Mountain just above downtown Steamboat Springs. For those that haven’t ridden on Emerald, make a point the next time you’re in town. Fast and flowing, this trail network is a great place for rides ranging from the ‘Steamboat Hour’ to a several hour tour with friends on the weekend.

Further South, Len Zanni has volunteered time this summer for two separate projects on Smuggler Mountain above Aspen. Smuggler is the gateway to fun rides starting in the Hunter Creek Valley. The first project involved pruning, tread widening and general maintenance on trails that are being adopted into the Smuggler Mountain Open Space recreation area managed by Pitkin County while the second transformed old mine access roads into singletrack and revegetation work.
