Honey Stinger/ Trek Nabs 3rd at 24 Hour Nationals
The Honey Stinger/ Trek team comprised of Ben Portilla and Max Taam from Colorado and Brendan and Ben Moore of Minnesota placed 3rd at the 24 Hours of Moab which doubled as this year’s 24 Hours Nationals. With two members sick at the start and Max reeling from a pre-ride crash that left him bruised and swollen about the face on Friday night, the guys pulled this one out for sure. After the crash Max blew his nose and that caused some funky sinus pressurization which made his swollen face blow up to the point where he couldn’t see from the eye. Hours into the race, and after hours of icing his eye socket, he was able to burn some laps but apparently needed tape to hold the eye open. Makes one think of Rocky, “Micky, cut the eye…”
With an RV courtesy of the Midwest crew and two Flying Diamond 6 tents from team co-sponsor Big Agnes, the crew had a pretty sweet base camp. Way to go fellas!
Racing in the Men’s 4 man expert category, Team Boa Technology (A Team Honey Stinger/Trek sponsor)/Honey Stinger took home another podium spot for Honey Stinger. Comprised of Honey Stinger/Trek rider Rob Peterson as well as Stinger friends Chad Eskins, Matty Provonost, and Craig Jones – the team banged out 17 laps to gain their spot on the box in 2nd Place.
